The concept of this design is a local chocolate bar company, Conscious Chocolate (and its’ parent company, Noix & Co.), based in Portland, OR. Conscious Chocolate is plant based and meant for health conscious, vegan, or a holistic audience. It is sold in places like New Seasons, or other organic stores, for over $8 a bar. The packaging is recycled white paper, with a hand-lettered design, featuring a dark brown color palette. The mood is minimalistic, but maintains elements of innocence with hand-drawn illustrations, and a repeated heart pattern throughout all aspects of the brand. Although the chocolate options are expensive, the mood conveyed is very welcoming, due to the recycled paper and hand-drawn illustrations and wordmark. Special attention was brought to the ingredients list in each element, to emphasize the brands’ priority of transparency.
